When I get excited about a startup, I try to find ways to help them out.
Often, I find myself writing emails to them. Or setting up a Zoom where I can dig into whatever area they like.
But I’m liking this new thing I’m doing much more.
It’s more creative than just shooting off an email, or setting up yet another meeting.
It’s faster to put together than an email, in many cases.
And I have a hunch that it might even be more actionable for a founder. Because they’ll pay more attention to it than they will email number 784,320.

In case you don’t speak emoji, I’m talking about screencasts 😃
Here’s one I recorded, for a founder in the DevTools space.
I used Descript to make this one. I’ve also used Loom and Tella in the past for similar use cases.
And like I said … these are a bit more attention grabbing than a plain ol’ email. Here’s what that founder thought of that video I shared with you:

Give it a try the next time you’re sending a founder some feedback.
Bonus: Here’s the Javascript I used (that you can just store as a bookmark on your machine) which will let you “live edit” a webpage just like I did. HT to Joe Portsmouth for making me aware of it:

From our friends across the Atlantic, AlphaQ Venture Capital
Having invested in dozens and worked with hundreds of VC funds,
We know firsthand how much time and how many resources it takes to raise a fund.
It’s notoriously tough for emerging managers, who often:

The guide addresses common mistakes and shares best practices for several critical areas of the fundraising process:
– Research: Understand the various types of investors and their specific needs.
– Product: How to craft a compelling value proposition for your fund.
– Market: Define your ideal investor profile to tailor your approach effectively.
– Marketing: Creating impactful fundraising materials that capture attention.
– Lead Gen & Sales: Building a robust funnel infrastructure and improving workflow.
