Position: Analyst/Associate 

Location: San Francisco, CA 

Who we are: Counterpart Ventures is a San Francisco based VC fund investing in B2B AI startups  at Seed- Series B (lead/co-lead/join syndicates) deploying checks ranging $1-5M ($132M Fund  III). We embrace a flexible and innovative funding model that creatively aligns with the needs  of our portfolio companies. We help build companies by providing meaningful access to real  customers and strategic partnerships via our corporate venture capital community, the Counter  Club

Counter Club represents the most active and engaged network of CVCs among any traditional  VC firm. Almost 800+ corporate VCs are members from all around the world. We can create this  community as our founding General Partners Patrick Eggen & Joe Saijo bring 20+ years of CVC  experience to Counterpart Ventures. 

Opportunity: Our fund is growing! We operate like a startup with a small collaborative team of  6 (2 partners, 2 principals, and 1 director of platform, 1 director of investor relations). We are  looking for our next core member as we embark on the next chapter of Counterpart Ventures.

We invest heavily in our foundational team so we can build a sustainable venture  franchise. What You’ll Do: 

  • Investment Support: 

o Generate proprietary investment deal flow by conducting thematic sector  coverage and networking with entrepreneurs, investors, and industry  

practitioners. 

o Manage deal flow sourcing and pipeline infrastructure (Affinity, Salesforce,  LinkedIn, etc.) 

o Support due diligence processes including conversations with experts, building  financial models, and establishing investment recommendations.

o Create investment memos and presentations for investment decisions. o Identify emerging trends and potential thematic areas for investments,  leveraging market insights and analytical skills. 

o Oversee organization of founder/investor events and thematic content  management 

  • Portfolio Management: 

o Participate in board meetings and assist in supporting portfolios in hiring, sales,  GTM, corporate development, and strategic partnerships. 

o Opportunities to lead/ co-lead investment portfolio management. 

  • CVC Ecosystem 

o Measure and track ROI drivers that provide value to our portfolios such as  customer introductions, partnership enablement, upstream capital support, etc. 

Preferred Qualifications (not required): 

  • 1-2 years of experience in investment banking or some relevant foundational work  experience 
  • 1-2 years of experience in VC/PE is preferred with experience sourcing deals and a pre existing network of founders/investors or domain knowledge having worked in  technology companies (corporate development/ finance) 
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills with the ability to distill key insights from financial  models and large datasets. 
  • A self-starter who thrives working independently and in a collaborative environment  being able to navigate unstructured day to day. 
  • Thrives in startup-like environment working with a small team and paving their own  path on the team. 
  • Excellent communication skills with comfort in connecting with people from analysts, c level executives, customers, and investors. 
  • Detail-oriented and ability to synthesize and distill complex information. Enjoys building a network, meeting new people, finding innovative ideas and  demonstrated ability to build relationships with founders, investors, and industry  professionals.
