InvestNL
Job description
We believe that the Netherlands needs to become more sustainable and innovative. Fortunately, there are many entrepreneurs with good plans for the future. Invest-NL is here to finance them and help them on their way. We do this with boldness, decisiveness, and enthusiasm. Will you help?
Within our Life Sciences & Health investment team, we have an attractive position open for a Senior Investment Manager with a focus on Life Sciences (Therapeutics).
About the position
As a Senior Investment Manager, you lead deal teams in the exploration and execution of investment opportunities and are responsible for managing investments and working towards successful exits. Additionally, you build strong relationships with entrepreneurs, co-investors, knowledge institutions, and strategic and public parties. You report to the Investment Principal.
The Life Sciences & Health Team focuses on keeping healthcare affordable and accessible in the Netherlands and on responding to the increasing demand for care. There is a strong focus on life sciences (therapeutics), medtech, and innovative health solutions. The team invests in companies that contribute to the future of healthcare through groundbreaking technologies and scientific innovations.
Many of these innovations are based on complex scientific developments, market dynamics, and processes. Therefore, it is important that you understand these well, or have demonstrable affinity with life sciences and healthcare, so that you can effectively fathom and assess technologies and business models.
This is what you are going to do
- Developing, analyzing, and assessing investment opportunities, with a focus on Life Sciences (Therapeutics);
- Structuring and negotiating complex transactions in a team setting;
- Actively managing the portfolio and stakeholder relationships;
- Developing market knowledge and identifying trends within the Life Sciences & Health sector, and translating this into investment strategies;
- Managing deal teams and contributing to team development and spirit;
- Building and maintaining relationships with co-investors/co-financiers and industry experts.
Requirements
You are
A dedicated senior investment professional who thrives on complex transactions with societal relevance. You think not only in terms of risks and frameworks, but above all in terms of what is needed to make promising innovations financeable. You can independently lead investment processes from start to finish: from analysis and structuring to negotiation, decision-making, and closing.
You are a true team player and feel responsible for our investment strategy, strengthening our team, and the success of Invest-NL. You take ownership within deal teams, mentor junior colleagues, and help them grow in analysis, structuring, and stakeholder management.
You have
- At least 10 years of work experience at an investment fund, consultant, bank, relevant consultancy firm, or other relevant (financial) institution. Preferably in a role as an Investment Manager specializing in Life Sciences / therapeutics;
- Demonstrable experience with direct investing as the (ultimate) responsible party, including negotiating transactions and managing investment portfolios, combined with knowledge of modeling, structuring, valuation, and legal documentation.
- Experience with the development and scaling of innovative companies within this domain;
- Understanding of approval and reimbursement processes in the Life Sciences sector, such as clinical trials;
- A relevant network that can be further built and developed;
- Candidates with PhD experience add value.
We offer
As a Senior Investment Manager Life Sciences & Health at Invest-NL, you will work with a passionate team on a better future. You can count on a pleasant and open atmosphere, inspiring work, and plenty of room for personal development. Our employment conditions are also attractive:
- Salary: between €6,000 and €9,400 per month based on 36 hours, with the possibility of working 40 hours. Classification based on knowledge and experience;
- Flexibility in remuneration: Benefit Budget worth 20.95% of your monthly salary. This consists of 8% holiday allowance, 8.33% year-end bonus, and a personal budget of 4.615% equivalent to the statutory leave (86.4 hours per year based on your 36-hour work week);
- Leave: Attractive and flexible leave arrangements;
- Growth: A generous training budget and plenty of room for personal input and development;
- From A to Sustainable: Sustainable mobility policy including private use of public transport;
- For the future: A good pension (including a 2% personal contribution and a high employer contribution (the amount depends on your age and ranges between ~15 and ~35%));
- Work where you want: Flexibility regarding working hours and location, and up to 2 weeks of remote work per year;
- Room for social engagement: up to 2 Impact days per year for volunteer work during working hours;
- And while not a benefit of employment, it is certainly just as important: driven colleagues to work with. Joint lunches twice a week, fun outings, and sporting activities.
